Learning Plan Update

Dear Munising Public Schools Parents, Guardians, Caregivers and Students,

This post is meant to give a brief description of what the school plans are for the remainder of the “school year.”  I will post a more detailed description early next week.

When Governor Whitmer made the decision to close schools for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year, each district was charged with developing a Continuity of Learning Plan (CLP). Although schools are closed and not providing in-person instruction, teaching and learning must continue.

The Munising Public Schools Continuity of Learning Plan will be a “mixed media” approach, using hard copy instructional packets and various online learning platforms.  Teachers will connect weekly with students via phone, email, or video conferencing for those that have internet access.  The teaching and support staff have all been working very hard on finalizing our plan to get back to teaching and learning.

We are planning on having the hard copy instructional packets available by Tuesday, April 14, and we will begin remote learning on Wednesday, April 15.  The packets will be delivered out on our bus runs, and families that live in town can pick up their packets at Mather Elementary and the Munising Middle/High School.  Middle & High School students should also begin monitoring their school email for contact from their teachers.

Again, much more detail will follow early next week.  In the interim, please take care of yourselves, stay home and stay safe.  We miss all of you.

Sincerely,

Pete Kelto
Superintendent
