The “Kids Connection” community playground at William G. Mather Elementary School was funded and built by the citizens of Munising approximately 27 years ago. Although it was a state of the art structure in its time, it is now in desperate need of replacement, after many years of fun and play. Our playground is not only used by the school district’s preschool through 5th grade students daily during the school year, but by all the Munising area families and youth year round. It is also an attractive form of recreation for our visitors during the busy tourist season. Current replacement bids for the playground are estimated at approximately $300,000. Munising Public Schools has committed $150,000 toward the cost of the rebuild. We're hoping to raise the remaining funds through fundraising and grants.
