Jeff Veley Visits Middle & High School Students

Today, our middle and high school students also had the opportunity to learn from Jeff Veley, who delivered a powerful message focused on resilience, conflict resolution, and personal responsibility.

Drawing from his own life experiences, Jeff helped students understand how to:
✔️ Manage emotions in challenging situations
✔️ Respond to conflict without escalating it
✔️ Build confidence and mental strength
✔️ Shift their mindset to take away the “power” from negativity

His message emphasized that reacting with anger often makes situations worse, while choosing calmness and respect can change outcomes and relationships.

Through real-life examples and relatable strategies, students were encouraged to take ownership of their actions, support one another, and develop the skills needed to navigate social challenges both in and out of school.

State Leadership Visit at Mather Elementary Today!

We were honored to welcome State Representatives Prestin and Bohnak, along with Senator McBroom, to Mather Elementary today!

During their visit, they toured our building while Superintendent Travis, School Board members Lara Bender and John Carr, and Head of Maintenance Mike Albright led the way. This provided an opportunity to showcase the many strengths of our school community while also highlighting the significant facility needs and necessary upgrades that will help ensure a safe, functional, and modern learning environment for our students.

Our 4th and 5th Grade Student Leadership Team- Simon, Jake, Henry, Stella, Nora, Hadley, Warren, Jayden, and Petra- did an outstanding job preparing for the visit. From creating welcoming signs to organizing the lobby, they ensured our guests felt the strong sense of pride that defines Mather.

A special thank you to our 2nd Quarter All-Star STANG Citizens: Audrey G., Charli K., Wayland H., Havana G., Kenzie C., and Jonah C.,-who with our Student Leadership Team warmly welcomed our guests and confidently shared how we live our STANG expectations each day.

We are incredibly proud of how our students represented Mather and our entire school community today!

Big Moment at Mather!

We are so proud to celebrate an exciting milestone at Mather Elementary. Our students earned over 1,000 STANG Cards, making it possible to purchase our brand new Book Vending Machine!

This achievement reflects the incredible ways our students demonstrate what it means to:
Stay Safe
Take Responsibility
Act with Kindness
Never Give Up
Give Respect

A special shoutout goes to Joseph Palomaki (4th grade), who was the very first student to earn a special token and select a book from the machine!

Joseph showed what it truly means to “Never Give Up” through his dedication to excellent home row typing practice in Mrs. Martin’s class. His hard work and perseverance made him a role model for all!

A big thank you to Mrs. Berube, our librarian, who had the honor of presenting Joseph with his coin- what a special moment for our school community!

Way to go, Joseph -and way to go, Mather students!
