Do you have a minimum of 10 days to work throughout the school year? Join us for two full days of training and preparation to meet state requirements on Tuesday, July 29th and Thursday, July 31st at Marquette Alger RESA from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. lunch will be provided. Congratulations to Munising Public Schools' Teacher of the Year - Bette Immel. After 23 years of teaching, Mrs. Immel was nominated by her peers for the award for being a physical education/health teacher and coach that students love and connect with while they are in school and well after they graduate. Her impact on the students at MPS goes far beyond her classroom, as she is a constant supporter of students at all athletic, academic, and extracurricular events. She is an exceptional, influential educator with high expectations for students and has been a source of comfort for discussing sensitive topics in her health, family health, and child development classes. Mrs. Immel one of our four retirees this spring. We are going to miss her immensely, but wish her the absolute best in retirement! Congratulations Mrs. Immel!

Congratulations to Munising Public Schools' Support Staff Member of the Year - Amy Heribacka. The award was voted upon by our staff who nominated Amy for her positive attitude and willingness to always step up whenever help is needed. MUNISING PUBLIC SCHOOLS AIR QUALITY NOTICE FOR THURSDAY, JUNE 5TH - Due to forecasted Air Quality Index (AQI) improvements for tomorrow, outdoor physical activities will be permitted including the Mather Field Day, Field Trips, Recess, and other school related outdoor activities. The AQI has improved from RED yesterday (6/3) to ORANGE today (6/4) and is expected to be in the YELLOW range tomorrow (6/5). An EPA Air Quality Guide for Schools is pictured below and those individuals with asthma or other respiratory conditions should still monitor for symptoms and take precautionary measures as needed or indicated in medical action plans. If AQI conditions change and things become less favorable, MPS will provided an updated notice.

Field Day is This Wednesday – June 4th! We’re excited to celebrate Field Day with our Mather Elementary students this Wednesday, June 4th—a full day of outdoor fun, teamwork, and activity! Here’s what families need to know: - 12 Rotating Activity Stations Students will rotate through 12 fun-filled stations set up around the school and surrounding areas throughout the day. - Concession Stand Open During Lunch Students will have the opportunity to purchase pizza and snacks at the concession stand during the lunch period. -Please send money with your child if they would like to buy items. - Lunch Location We will enjoy lunch picnic-style on the backside of the football field. Please pack a sack lunch. 🚫 Please Note: This is a Student-Only Event Due to updates in our Field Day structure, parents and family members will not be permitted to attend. We appreciate your understanding as we focus on a safe, organized, and engaging experience for all students. Congratulations to the Class of 2025! Help us celebrate our seniors as we honor them with a senior spotlight! Elizabeth is the daughter of Tracy and Robert Wing. Elizabeth is passionate about her numerous sports and club involvement such as dance, cross country, volleyball, basketball, track and field, student council, Key Club, NHS, YIG, TYC, forensics, yearbook, and Quiz Bowl. Wing was a member of the Youth Advisory Committee, Sex Education Advisory Board, and the Nutrition and Wellness Committee. Elizabeth has been Academic All-State for Cross Country, Excellence in Education, is in the Top 5% of her class, a Senior Scholar, on the honor roll throughout high school, being a district championship for basketball for multiple years, district champion for volleyball, Youth in Government Speaker of House, state finalist in forensics, track and field regional championship, UP finalist medalist in discus, cross country UP champion, and cross country UP runner-up. Elizabeth is planning to pursue an education in biology in pre-medicine to become an obstetrician at Vanderbilt University.

Cayden will graduate from Munising High School, but he has attended other schools in the past since his family is military. Kyle is a 3rd Grader in Ms. Hetherington's class and was nominated by Ms. Watson. She says, "Kyle is a hard worker. He puts maximum effort in and goes above & beyond to achieve great results. He is a great student and classmate and he always contributes to class discussions." Kyle's favorite subject is Math. Kyle is a wrestler at Mather.
