MUNISING PUBLIC SCHOOLS IS SEEKING ITS NEXT SUPERINTENDENT to begin, July 1, 2026. MUNISING PUBLIC SCHOOLS WILL BE CLOSED TOMORROW, FRIDAY, JANUARY 23, 2026 - Due to an "Extreme Cold Warning" with very low temperatures and wind chills down to -35 degrees and due to the combined effect of the "Winter Weather Advisory" with high winds, low visibility due to blowing snow, and snowfall of up to 7+ inches expected in portions of our district. Please note we will make and communicate a decision by midday tomorrow regarding whether or not we will host the regularly scheduled home basketball games against Newberry and Rudyard tomorrow evening.
✈️📚Reading Buddies in Action! ✈️📚
Our 4th grade students had a wonderful time partnering with our kindergarten classes as Reading Buddies! These special moments help build confidence, leadership, and responsibility for our 4th graders, while giving our kindergarten students extra encouragement, positive role models, and a love for reading.
Beyond reading together, students also took time to collaborate and problem-solve as they prepared for the upcoming Paper Airplane Contest happening next Friday. Working together allowed them to practice teamwork, communication, and creativity—all while having fun!
We love seeing our students learn from one another and build meaningful connections across grade levels. Stay tuned for pictures and results from the big contest!

Our students had a blast at the Winter Carnival, especially at the snow-coloring station with Mrs. Johnson, our amazing 2nd grade teacher!
With a little creativity and a lot of laughter, students transformed the snow we’ve seen for months into something bright, colorful, and beautiful.
Thank you, Mrs. Johnson, for bringing such magic and joy to our winter fun!

MPS TRANSPORTATION NOTICE - TUESDAY, JANUARY 20TH @ 11:40AM - Due to a planned driver absence we will be running 3 bus routes this afternoon for the ride home. Parents can expect delayed drop of times. Please refer to the attached document that denotes the 3 routes for this afternoon.
3 HOUR DELAY FOR TUES. 1.20.26 Due to predicted windchills of between -20 and-25 below zero during the early and mid morning hours along with continuing lake effect snowfall in the NE part of our district, the Munising Public Schools will be under a 3 hour delay tomorrow. Munising Middle/High School will begin at 11:00 am and Mather Elementary at 11:15 am.
MUNISING PUBLIC SCHOOLS - SPECIAL BOARD MEETING NOTICE (1.19.26) - Due to blizzard conditions and the closure of highway M28, the Regular School Board Meeting scheduled for 6:00pm this evening has been rescheduled for Monday, January 26th, 2026 at 6:00pm in the Boardroom at the Munising Middle-High School located at 810 State Hwy. Just a reminder that our Mather Popcorn Fundraiser will be running all week during lunch times! Students and staff can purchase a bag of popcorn for $2 each day.

A huge thank you to our amazing Mather families, staff, and community members who joined us for our 2026 Winter Carnival! We were thrilled to welcome over 500 attendees for an evening filled with fun, laughter, and winter-themed activities.
