Jack Dusseault, the son of Jason and Laura Dusseault has been well accomplished while attending Munising. Jack has been involved in basketball, football, and track. He has won a basketball championship and has been recognized for first-team All-Conference, first-team defense for basketball, first-team All-Conference for football, and UP finals for track. Jack plans to attend college at Northern Michigan University for a degree in General Business while playing on the football team.

Daniel, the son of Svitlana and John Goss, is one of the most musically gifted students of his class. While in school Daniel has been involved in basketball, track, cross country, and tennis as well as playing guitar and piano for the school band and with friends. He has accomplished a state championship in basketball, won the 4x800m relay, 1600m, and 3200m in track, won cross-country finals, has been cross-country MVP multiple times, and is an excellence in education winner. Daniel has also earned a senior scholar medallion for academics and high SAT scores. Daniel’s favorite memory is winning the 1600m race at the 2024 Track and Field U.P. Finals. Finally, Daniel intends to attend a university to pursue a degree in civil engineering.

MPS TRANSPORTATION UPDATE FOR MONDAY, APRIL 28, 2025: Due to last minute driver illness, the district is running 4 Bus Routes again today (4/28). The routes are pictured below and can be found in the Live Feed section of the district website. Pick-up and Drop-off times could vary 10-20 minutes earlier/later than usual especially toward the end of routes. Delays of up to 20 minutes can be expected for stops in Wetmore, Alger Heights, and within city limits. Due to the driver shortage, we also will be unable to provide transportation this afternoon for athletics.
Kindergarten Field Trip Fun!
This past Friday, Mrs. VanLandschoot’s and Mrs. Nebel’s Kindergarten classes had an amazing adventure at the Children’s Museum in Marquette!
Our students explored, played, and learned through hands-on activities — it was a wonderful day full of curiosity and discovery. Thank you to all who helped make this special trip possible!

Marshmallow Challenge Success!
This past Friday, students put their creativity, teamwork, and engineering skills to the test during our Marshmallow Challenge — and what an amazing event it was!
Congratulations to Mrs. Mattson’s 5th Grade Class for taking first place!
Ms. Wittman’s 1st Grade Class proudly earned second place!
And our entire 4th Grade Class worked together to secure third place!

Thank you to everyone who joined us this past Friday from 5:30-7:00 for Poetry Night at Gallery Coffee. We had a fantastic turnout and were so proud of our amazing students who bravely shared their voices and original poems with a full house!
A special thank you to Gallery Coffee for hosting us, to everyone who donated delicious treats, and to Ms. Amy for organizing and selling them. We are also so grateful to the teachers, parents, and community members who turned out to support our brave young poets.
It was truly a night to remember — celebrating creativity, courage, and the power of student voice.

Carter is the son of Chris and Cori Deatsman. Carter has been involved in hockey, football, and golf. While being involved in these activities, Carter has received recognition as First Team All-Conference linebacker, First Team All-UP linebacker, and Second Team All-State linebacker. His favorite memory while attending Munising is getting a hole-in-one at a golf meet. Carter intends to attend Northern Michigan University to get his HVAC certificate.

Bailey, daughter of Erica Segerstrom and Kurt Corcoran, has been an active member at Munising High School. The activities she’s been involved in are: basketball, tennis, volleyball, cross country, track, Key Club, National Honors Society, and Youth in Government. Bailey has done many hours of community service and has received recognition for 4 years of Honor Roll. Bailey scored substantial baskets to become a member of the 1000-point club. Other awards include Skyline Conference Volleyball 1st team, Basketball SCC All-Conference 1st team 3 times, and Division 4 second team. Bailey’s favorite memory is when Mr.Mattson fell off of a ladder in the gym. She plans to attend to Ferris State University to pursue a bachelor's in nuclear medicine/radiation therapy.

Just a Reminder: Mather Elementary Celebrates National Poetry Month!
We’re thrilled to announce that Mather Elementary is partnering with Ana Dolaskie to host a Family Engagement Poetry Night at Gallery Coffee this Friday, April 25th from 5:30–7:00 PM!
Students in Grades K–6 will take the stage to share original poems or read favorite published pieces. It’s a celebration of creativity, confidence, and student voice—a perfect way to honor National Poetry Month.
PLUS! There will be a Bake Sale during the event—just 50¢ per item, with all proceeds going toward purchasing classroom equipment for Mather. A sweet way to support our students in more ways than one!
Our students have been preparing all month, and we are so proud of their hard work and courage. Let’s come together for a night of connection, inspiration, and celebration. Your presence reinforces the value of their words and shows them how much their voices matter.

Mather's Plant a Seed Project Grows! Mrs. Nebels kindergarten class planted grass seeds in cups to celebrate Earth Day. They will be recording how their grass grows over the next few weeks in their plant journals.
