On Wednesday, October 6, 2021, two bus runs will be combined to take students home at the end of the day. All students who normally ride bus #2 will ride bus #10 home. Students may get home up to 30 minutes later than their usual time.

MUSTANG FALL PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES: On Thursday 10/7 from 12:00-2:30 and 5:30-7:30, Middle & High School P/T Conferences will be held in teacher classrooms for grades 6-12. There will be NO SCHOOL for students on 10/7. Additionally, Teachers will be engaged in Professional Development on Friday 10/8, so there will again be NO SCHOOL for students on 10/8. Please come to conferences to meet your child's teachers and learn about their academic progress.

MUNISING HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT OF THE WEEK (Sept 20-24): Savannah Lassila, a freshman at Munising High School, has been selected as this week’s Student of the Week. She is the daughter of Amy and TJ Lassila. Mrs. Albright nominated Savannah Lassila for student of the week, she said, “Savannah is very conscientious and makes sure she gets her work done and understands the material. She is always willing to help others and is a joy to work with. She is also involved in other activities which makes her a very well-rounded student.” Savannah is in sideline and competitive cheerleading, student council, Key Club, and plays the flute in band. She likes to spend her free time with her family. She also enjoys spending time outdoors, babysitting, and working her summer job at Tracey’s. Congratulations to Savannah and her parents. Keep up the great work!

Congratulations to the Varsity Volleyball Team for their victory over Powers-NCA (25-10, 25-14, 25-7) last night (9/28). Great job ladies and Coaches Bowerman and Cole. Come and cheer on the Lady Mustangs when they host Forest Park/CF on Thursday (9/30) evening. JV plays at 6:00pm and the Varsity plays at 7:15pm.

Today was a great day for Mustang Cross Country! Girls Varsity had a near perfect score of 18 points to win the Rapid River Invitational for the second year in a row. Six of our seven runners medaled with Kate Mattson getting her first varsity medal ever! Our #7 runner Elizabeth Wing finished with a personal best. Earning medals for the girls were: Jenna Matson 2nd - 23:00 Monique Brisson 3rd - 23:08 Sabryna Smith 5th - 24:03 Hattie Cota 6th - 24:42 Julia Prunick 9th - 25:26 Kate Mattson 14th - 26:27 Elizabeth Wing 22nd - 29:48 All 4 Varsity Boys had strong races today, most of them showing their best of the season. Nick Singer took his first gold of the year and Kaelan Mulye was not far behind. The Boys Team didn’t have enough runners to register a team score. Earning medals for the boys were: Nick Singer 1st - 19:11 Kaelan Mulye 2nd - 19:13 Frank Carlson 34th - 25:15 Dylan (Dave) Cornish 40th - 26:50 Middle School times were not recorded today, but 4 of our 6 MS runners went home with medals! Munising High School Social Studies Project Students in Mr. Lynch's World History classes have been working all week on a project entitled, "History of Me". This relevant learning opportunity affords students the chance to learn about history and ancestry in a personal context. In the pictures below various students in periods 3 & 7 share their projects with classmates. Projects by Elizabeth Wing, Toni Briggs, and others were especially impressive.

Thank you to Mrs. Cromell & the Munising Public Library for bringing Jeff Kass a teacher, poet, and author to share his book of poetry with the Munising High School English students on Monday, September 20th. His poetry revolves around his experiences as a teacher and a moonlighting pizza deliveryman.

Mr. Miles’ Construction Trades students are busy building their woods projects. This is a valuable hands-on learning experience. In fact a team of young ladies is building a double occupancy dog house for the principal’s German shepherds. Thanks girls!

Mrs. McLaren’s 6th Grade Physical Education students are listening to “pre-sweat” instructions!

ATTENTION MUNISING MIDDLE SCHOOL FOOTBALL FANS: The MS game next week AT Forest Park/Crystal Falls is in fact on Wednesday, September 29th @ 6:00pm EST. The game was moved a day to accommodate a scheduling request from FP/CF. Go Stangs!

From Saturday, September 18th through Wednesday, September 22nd, one school employee, and several Mather Elementary and Munising Middle School students tested positive for COVID-19. Parents of students determined to be close contacts have already been contacted by the school to get approval to administer COVID testing for students that will remain in school. Due to possible delays in the school being notified by the health department, we ask parents of students tested outside of school to please contact the school office immediately if your child has tested positive for COVID-19. If testing results were received outside of school hours, please call the school office and leave a voicemail. We again thank our students, staff and parents for your patience and understanding.
