Today, our Student Leadership Team and All-Star STANG Citizens had the incredible opportunity to welcome State Superintendent Dr. Maleyko to Mather Elementary!
Our students did an outstanding job representing Mather by showcasing their leadership, confidence, and STANG values—Stay Safe, Take Responsibility, Act with Kindness, Never Give Up, and Give Respect.
Superintendent Mr. Travis gave them a tour of our building, highlighting both the wonderful learning happening at Mather and the importance of continued support for facility improvements to best serve our students and staff.
We are so proud of the way our Mustangs represented our school and community~ way to go!

What a great way to start the day at Mather Elementary! This morning, our students lined both sides of Elm Avenue to cheer on and celebrate our amazing bus drivers: Jeff, Chris, Kevin, and Rick!
With signs, smiles, and lots of excitement, our Mustangs showed just how grateful we are for the dedication, patience, and care our drivers bring every single day. From early mornings to challenging weather and everything in between, they go above and beyond to keep our students safe.
Thank you for all that you do~ we appreciate you more than words can say!

From interactive science displays to imaginative play areas, every corner of the museum offered something new to explore. The children especially loved working together, asking questions, and trying new activities that sparked their curiosity and encouraged problem-solving. It was wonderful to see their faces light up with joy as they made new discoveries and shared those moments with their classmates.
A day like this would not have been possible without the support and dedication of so many wonderful people. We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the parents and volunteers who helped make this trip smooth, safe, and enjoyable for everyone. Your time and effort made a big difference.
We would also like to give a special thank you to Mrs. VanBuren, Ms. Campbell, and Mrs. Rusmisel for their guidance, organization, and care throughout the day. Their enthusiasm and commitment to creating meaningful learning experiences helped make this trip truly special.
By the end of the day, the students returned with happy hearts, tired feet, and many stories to tell. It was a memorable experience that combined learning and laughter in the best possible way, and one that will surely be remembered for a long time.

MATHER ELEMENTARY FACILITIES PICS OF THE WEEK (APRIL 20) - VOTE MAY 5, 2026 ON THE MPS SINKING FUND BALLOT PROPOSAL. "Did you know that boilers at Mather are 33 years old which is 13 years beyond the life span rating. Since the boilers are analog (not computerized) they must be monitored and adjusted daily by hand and parts are incredibly difficult to find and often must be ordered from E-bay. Did you know that some portions of Mather still employ the use of knob and tube wiring. K&T wiring which is uninsurable in the residential setting, is an obsolete, early 1900s electrical system consisting of single-strand copper wires, ceramic knobs, and protective tubes. Did you know that some rooms and spaces at Mather are no longer usable due to the presence of leaking water which sustains moisture and mold. Did you know that Mather does NOT have functioning ventilation which was decommissioned in 1993? There is no fresh air exchange at Mather and the lack of fresh oxygenated air is known to impact the learning and health of students and staff.
