MUNISING HIGH SCHOOL MIFA FORENSICS TEAM CONTINUES TO ENJOY SUCCESS -
Under the direction of Coach Heather Nayback, the team of Allie Johns DeVries, Jocelyn Smith, and Eridinn Nayback continue to bring home the hardware. In competition at Westwood just prior to spring break, Eridinn helped to coach the team while Jocelyn placed 2nd in Storytelling and Allie placed 4th in Extemporaneous Speaking. The team will compete virtually this Saturday (4/16) for Regionals and will then travel to Troy High School to compete at the MIFA State Finals on April 29th & 30th. Please wish the girls luck!
MUNISING MIDDLE SCHOOL STEM STUDENTS ENJOY TOWER BUILDING - Just prior to spring break, Mrs. Frantti’s STEM students applied science, technology, engineering, and mathematics concepts as they competed against each other in a team-based tower building competition. Mr. Tebear, Mr. Travis, and Mrs. Ekberg served as the judges and were impressed with the students’ knowledge and skills.
SPRINGTIME AT MUNISING MIDDLE-HIGH SCHOOL BRINGS NEW LIFE!
Mrs. Ludecke’s Life Science 8 students are learning about the life cycle of chickens as they are using an in class incubator to hatch fertilized eggs. So far 5 chicks have hatched and have been quickly adopted and named by the students. Additionally they are studying carrying capacity of various species populations and resource distribution.
MIDDLE SCHOOL TRACK & FIELD UPDATE - MUNISING HIGH SCHOOL Practices will begin indoors at the MSHS Gymnasium on Monday, April 18th and will move outdoors to the track at Mustang Stadium or other outside locations as the weather improves. BOYS' TENNIS UPDATE - MUNISING HIGH SCHOOL
Due to snow on the city tennis courts, practices will be held indoors at the Munising MSHS Gymnasium for this week and perhaps longer. The indoor practice schedule for the remainder of April is below. As soon as the courts are free of snow and dry, practices will move outside and the practices times will likely change to an earlier time. VARSITY TRACK & FIELD UPDATE - MUNISING HIGH SCHOOL
Practices will begin indoors at the MSHS Gymnasium for the remainder of April and will move outdoors to the track at Mustang Stadium or other outside locations as the weather improves. SOFTBALL UPDATE - MUNISING HIGH SCHOOL
Due to excessive snow, water, and mud, the field conditions are currently not playable at Gwinn, Rapid River, or Munising. Therefore, unfortunately the softball games scheduled for this week (4/12 @ Gwinn and 4/15 at Munising) have been canceled. Attempts are being made to reschedule these games. Softball Practices will be held indoors at the Munising MSHS Gymnasium for at least the next 2 weeks or until field conditions allow. The practice schedule for the remainder of April is below. If the field becomes playable and practices move outside, practice times may change.
WEATHER REMINDER FOR THIS EVENING (MARCH 31):
All afternoon and evening events are canceled due to the Winter Storm Warning which expires at 8:00pm. This includes athletic practices and the SAT Prep Session for Munising High School Juniors. The remaining and important SAT Prep Sessions are on April 11th & 12th.
Munising Public Schools will be closed today, Thursday, March 31, 2022 due to hazardous weather and travel conditions.
On Friday, April 1, 2022, two bus runs will be combined to take students home at the end of the day. All students who normally ride bus #10 will ride bus #2 home. Students may get home up to 45 minutes later than their usual time.

We have two home Varsity Track Meets and two home Middle School Track Meets and will be in need of volunteers to help with timing, and running field events. Non-mandatory practices for HIGH SCHOOL track athletes began on March 21st and will continue through Friday, April 1st. Mandatory practices for HIGH SCHOOL track athletes will begin Monday, April 11th upon return from Spring Break. HIGH SCHOOL track athletes should check with Coach Mattson regarding times. matt.mattson@mps-up.com
MIDDLE SCHOOL track practices have not yet begun. Mandatory MIDDLE SCHOOL track practices will begin on Monday, April 18th and practice times for MIDDLE SCHOOL track athletes will be right after school at 3:00pm. Questions should be directed to Coach Anne Peramaki at anne.peramaki@mps-up.com.
The meet schedules for middle school and high school track and field will be posted by Monday, March 28th.

They propelled through the semifinals and advanced to the final match. The Cyberstangs earned Second Place and the Quality Award, but most importantly they scored enough points to punch their ticket to the FIRST State Finals! Keep up the great work Coach Cornish and Team. Mustang Proud!!!
