MPS TRANSPORTATION NOTICE FOR JUNE 5TH & 6TH: Due to driver absence on our last two days of school, we will be running 4 Bus Routes. P/U & D/O times may vary by 10-20 minutes from the 5 route schedule. The 4 routes for the next two days can be seen in the picture below.
MUNISING PUBLIC SCHOOLS AIR QUALITY NOTICE FOR THURSDAY, JUNE 5TH - Due to forecasted Air Quality Index (AQI) improvements for tomorrow, outdoor physical activities will be permitted including the Mather Field Day, Field Trips, Recess, and other school related outdoor activities. The AQI has improved from RED yesterday (6/3) to ORANGE today (6/4) and is expected to be in the YELLOW range tomorrow (6/5). An EPA Air Quality Guide for Schools is pictured below and those individuals with asthma or other respiratory conditions should still monitor for symptoms and take precautionary measures as needed or indicated in medical action plans. If AQI conditions change and things become less favorable, MPS will provided an updated notice.

MUNISING PUBLIC SCHOOLS AIR QUALITY NOTICE FOR WEDNESDAY, JUNE 4TH - Due to unhealthy air quality conditions from the Canadian wildfire smoke, all school related outdoor activities for tomorrow have been cancelled, including Mather Elementary Field Day and scheduled outdoor field trips. Mather Field Day may be rescheduled for Thursday, June 5th if conditions improve sufficiently. More information will be forthcoming from building principals as needed.

Field Day is This Wednesday – June 4th!
We’re excited to celebrate Field Day with our Mather Elementary students this Wednesday, June 4th—a full day of outdoor fun, teamwork, and activity!
Here’s what families need to know:
- 12 Rotating Activity Stations
Students will rotate through 12 fun-filled stations set up around the school and surrounding areas throughout the day.
- Concession Stand Open During Lunch
Students will have the opportunity to purchase pizza and snacks at the concession stand during the lunch period.
-Please send money with your child if they would like to buy items.
- Lunch Location
We will enjoy lunch picnic-style on the backside of the football field. Please pack a sack lunch.

Due to updates in our Field Day structure, parents and family members will not be permitted to attend. We appreciate your understanding as we focus on a safe, organized, and engaging experience for all students.
What to Bring & Wear:
A sack lunch (if not purchasing from concessions)
A water bottle to stay hydrated
Sunscreen & Bug Spray (applied before school is best!)
Comfortable clothes and shoes suitable for outdoor activity and fluctuating weather

Elizabeth is the daughter of Tracy and Robert Wing. Elizabeth is passionate about her numerous sports and club involvement such as dance, cross country, volleyball, basketball, track and field, student council, Key Club, NHS, YIG, TYC, forensics, yearbook, and Quiz Bowl. Wing was a member of the Youth Advisory Committee, Sex Education Advisory Board, and the Nutrition and Wellness Committee. Elizabeth has been Academic All-State for Cross Country, Excellence in Education, is in the Top 5% of her class, a Senior Scholar, on the honor roll throughout high school, being a district championship for basketball for multiple years, district champion for volleyball, Youth in Government Speaker of House, state finalist in forensics, track and field regional championship, UP finalist medalist in discus, cross country UP champion, and cross country UP runner-up. Elizabeth is planning to pursue an education in biology in pre-medicine to become an obstetrician at Vanderbilt University.

Cayden Wieczorek is the son of Don and Angela Wieczorek. Cayden will graduate from Munising High School, but he has attended other schools in the past since his family is military. His most memorable moment was making state finals in wrestling his senior year. Wieczorek will continue the family tradition of military service by entering the Marine Corps post-graduation.
We are proud to recognize Kyle Williams as Mather Elementary's Student of the Week! Kyle is the son of Angelica, Josh & Kyle. Kyle is a 3rd Grader in Ms. Hetherington's class and was nominated by Ms. Watson. She says, "Kyle is a hard worker. He puts maximum effort in and goes above & beyond to achieve great results. He is a great student and classmate and he always contributes to class discussions." Kyle's favorite subject is Math. Kyle is a wrestler at Mather. After school he enjoys playing video games with friends and hanging out with his siblings.

Karianna, the daughter of Kathleen Lindquist and Mark Virta. Her most memorable time in Munising was when she returned to in-person school versus online. Virta was active in gymnastics and received various medals and awards. Karianna has received academic awards and has been on the Honor Roll for multiple years. Karianna plans to attend Northern Michigan University to complete their surgical technician program.

Conner Eisenhardt is the son of Ashley Eaton. He has been highly active in sports throughout high school in wrestling, track, and football. Conner will be joining the military post-graduation.

Ryan is the son of Ryan Vining, Stephanie Livermore, and Phil Livermore. Ryan’s favorite memory while in high school is hanging out with his friends. After school, he plans to attend electrical line school to become a lineman.

Jacob VanLandschoot is the son of Tricia and Jeremy VanLandschoot. Jacob was active on the robotics team, participated in Youth In Government, and a member of the Munising National Honor Society. His most fond memory is when, as a freshman, the robotics team almost qualified for worlds. Jacob wants to be remembered for always being on the Honor Roll and for being in concert band throughout high school. Jacob will attend Bay College this fall with the intent to transfer to another college for a degree in accounting. His preference is to live somewhere cold, but he would like to work from home.

President Adrian Bowerman has chosen Andrew Uehlein as the Jr. NHS Member of the Month. Bowerman stated that, "Andrew has a good amount of hours and has helped in many different kinds of environments. Andrew graciously handed out prizes and treats at Mather's Family Reading Night and has been very active in Jr. NHS, and he helped tutor at the elementary school this year." Congratulations Andrew! We are proud of your service, leadership, and character :-)
