Mrs. Johnson’s and Mrs. Wing’s second graders had an absolute blast on their field trip, enjoying the sunshine, fresh snow, and some exciting sledding! Laughter filled the air as students zipped down the hills, embraced the winter fun, and made wonderful memories together.
What a perfect day to get outside, stay active, and enjoy the beauty of winter! Way to go, second graders!

🏆 Hula Hoop Challenge Champions!
This Thursday in the auditorium, our finalists faced off in an exciting Hula Hoop Challenge, showcasing their endurance, focus, and determination! Throughout the month, leading up to the event, students competed during gym class with Mrs. Cole to earn their spot in the finals, making the competition even more exciting!

This challenge wasn’t just about keeping the hula hoop moving—it was a true display of perseverance, school spirit, and encouragement from classmates. The energy in the auditorium was electric, with students cheering each other on and celebrating every effort. The endurance and camaraderie were truly inspiring!

Attention parents!
Munising Public Schools in coordination with the City of Munising, is applying for Safe Routes to School Funding. Safe Routes to School (SRTS) is a federal program to make it safe, convenient, and fun for children, including those with disabilities, to bicycle and walk to school. We are hoping to use this federal funding to increase safety for students both walking and being dropped off at both school buildings.

MPS TRANSPORTATION NOTICE: 3 HOUR DELAYED START TUES. FEB 18 - Due to the ongoing winter storm with reduced visibility and overnight heavy lake effect accumulation of 12+ inches in parts of our district, buses will be running on a 3 hour delay with school start times at the MSHS of 11:00am and 11:15am at Mather. If weather conditions do not improve, cancellation today is possible. The good news is that we now have 4 drivers and will be running 4 bus routes today. The girls basketball game tonight vs. Stephenson has been rescheduled for Wednesday, February 19th.
NO extracurricular or athletic practices allowed today due to the winter storm warning.

MUNISING PUBLIC SCHOOLS IS CLOSED TOMORROW, MONDAY, FEBRUARY 17, 2025 - Due to the ongoing winter storm which is producing poor driving conditions with high winds, accumulating snow, reduced visibility, and drifting along north/south roads. The eastern half of the school district is particularly impacted from Connors Road east along M28 to Shingleton and north up H15 to H58 through VanMeer and Melstrand.


Kindergarten & 4th Grade Buddies Go Sledding!
This past Friday, on Valentine’s Day, our Kindergarten and 4th Grade Buddies enjoyed a perfect winter day sledding at the football field! The conditions were fantastic, and the smiles, laughter, and teamwork made it even better.
It was a great way to celebrate the day—fresh air, fun, and friendship! Thank you to all the staff who helped make this memorable experience possible!


⛸️ 5th Grade Valentine’s Ice Skating Fun!
This past Friday, Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. Mattson’s 5th grade class celebrated Valentine’s Day in the best way—by ice skating! The students had a blast gliding across the ice, enjoying the fresh air, and making great memories together.
A big thank you to everyone who helped make this fun experience possible!


Congratulations to Chase LaFlamme – 250 Point Club!
A huge shoutout to Chase LaFlamme for reaching the 250 Point Club in our Accelerated Reader Program! Chase has read an incredible 78 books, passing a quiz for each one to achieve this milestone during his time at Mather.
To celebrate his achievement, Chase enjoyed his favorite dessert—a strawberry sundae with whipped cream and got to pick out a book of his choice!

MPS TRANSPORTATION NOTICE FOR TOMORROW, FRIDAY 2/14 - We will remain at 4 bus routes tomorrow. The changes for today will be the same for tomorrow: NO Bus 8 (Deer). Bus 8 (Deer) riders from Wetmore, Varnum St., and Prospect St. will ride Bus 7 (Frog). Bus 8 (Deer) Shingleton Students will ride Bus 5 (Dino). Bus 5 (Dino) Students on H-58, Hilltop, & Carmody/Miners Castle Road will ride Bus 3 (Bear). Shingleton students may be picked up 20-30 minutes early. There are no changes tomorrow for Bus 9a (Camel).
